The Stoppable Wedding

Here is a collection of pictures I have done for my Stoppable Wedding Series, which shows Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable progress through the daunting task of getting married.

I worked on the series from 2010 through 2011, and from what I understand a few people who actually worked on the show had seen these and liked what they had seen, so that is a tremendous honor to me when people who actually worked on the original show compliment on my work.

1. ENGAGEMENT PARTY TOAST

Trying to get this new series up and running, with the concept leading up to the "big day"...hopefully have the stuff done by Valentines...or the goal at least.

Here is a cute little scene of a 20-something Kim and Ron proposing a toast at their engagement party their friends and family have thrown for them...I kept the look I'm going for in the fic I'm making, it seems to work well with the medium.

2. FITTING

The second piece in the KP Wedding series I'm working on. Here KP, along with her mom and her Maid of Honor, Monique are out shopping for KP's gown...and by the look of her face it would appear that she has found it.

3. COMPROMISE

 "Love is patient..." goes the old adage. A quality Kim is learning first hand as her and her fiance Ron try to decide on a honeymoon destination. KP has allusions of romance in a far off exotic place while Ron has discovered gaudy tourism at its finest. Anyone who has gone through this can definitely relate.

4. INVITES


Here is my 4th installment of the Stoppable Wedding series I've been playing around with.

This part features Kimmie (with a little help from her future pet in-law Rufus) busy stuffing the invitations into envelopes and getting them ready to mail.

I had a little fun with KP's hair, putting it up a bit to show that she's been working hard (inspired by my wife when cleaning around the house) and as you can see, being the popular world hero that she's become...the guest list gets kinda big...

5. I HAVE AN IDEA...

Here's another installment of my Stoppable wedding series I've been playing around with.

This one has KP and Ron spending the night together in her apartment trying to tie up some loose ends in the wedding planning process. Suddenly KP get's an idea.

I'll leave it open ended to what that "idea" is. Maybe it's suggesting Ron making her cousin Larry a groomsmen, maybe it's adding something girly...or maybe it's something totally off topic, *wink wink*, nudge nudge That's the beauty of art, it's sometimes left up to the eye of the beholder...

Frankly, I just wanted to draw KP in a tank top and boxer shorts

And yes, I drew Ron with a goatee...I know some of you object to that but I kindly have to say that you need to deal...my art, my direction. They're supposed to be older, in college and if you've ever been in college, surely you or someone you know got a little liberal with their facial hair. I've got a creative thing going here and there is a reason for it so just trust me that I know where I'm going with this.

...If not, for a small commission, I'd be glad to take it off, lol.

6. I HAVE A BETTER IDEA...

The title could be taken a couple of different ways, so to speak...but here is kind of a followup to my "I have an idea" piece I made a month or so ago. Nothing like a little intimate cuddle session with the one you love to top off a hard day.

 

7. HAREY AT MAKUDDESHETAWHAT???

Hey look! The wife is back in school and working weekends again...that means I can draw! Lol

Here is the next piece in my Stoppable Wedding series. This one is occurring quite near the big day as Kim and Ron meet with Rabbi Katz at the Synagogue to go over the ceremony rehearsal.

Kim being a non-Jew (I'm assuming since she celebrates Christmas) appears to be having a little big of trouble understanding some of the wedding vows spoken in Hebrew. The title of this piece comes from "Harey at mekuddeshet li B'taba'at zo k'dat Moshe V'israel." ("Behold, thou are consecrated unto me with this ring according to the law of Moses and of Israel.") a vow that is said during a Jewish wedding...I think it's by the groom but apparently if rings are exchanged the bride says something similar as a response. I'm not Jewish and don't pretend to be, but I'm trying to do as much research as possible to make this somewhat realistic.

Ron, is somewhat stunned to see his fiance, who is usually cool and collected, struggle and seem very uncomfortable trying not to offend Jewish tradition. (Anyone who has gone to Catholic Mass or to a Shabbat Service and aren't in that faith can find it a little intimidating --- used to date a Catholic, lol) But hey, anything's possible for a Possible right? (I wonder how she'll spin that when she's a Stoppable? Hmmmm)

8. BACHELORETTE PARTY

Next installment on our Stoppable Wedding series,

KP and her girlfriends (plus trusty mom as the DD) set off to celebrate Kim's last night of freedom through the bachelorette party where they get drinks, give her the typical naughty gifts, prior to the all-male review....and then it just goes down hill from there...

 

...Now time to regain some man points...you know what's next...

 

9. BACHELOR PARTY

Here is the next installment of the Stoppable Wedding Series.

We last saw the ladies at Chip and Dale's being entertained (or the lack thereof) by some hard-bodied adonises on Kim's last night of freedom...on the other side of Middleton, we find Ron and his bro's helping him celebrate his last night.

Ned (by the look of his Bueno Nacho uniform appears to have done nothing with his life since the series ended) has supplied some eats, Felix (back from some high-tech college far away with a new spin on life apparently) supplied the drinks, and Barkin supplied the entertainment...or at least ordered it. One has to wonder at who was more surprised when the door was opened...Ron seeing Bonnie dressed as a stripper cop, or Bonnie discovering that her secret moonlighting job would be outed by former classmates...kinda like that scene from Varsity Blues when they all find out what the Sex Ed teacher does when she's not at the high school.

I like to think that in this scene, Bonnie has desperately tried to talk Ron out of going through with this, and even going so far as to offer him $100 to call it off. Ron on the other hand, has a whole lot more $ at his disposal thanks in part to his friends...not to mention having the luxury of watching the high-society girl who always tried to talk down to him and his girlfriend through grade school, humiliated and at his mercy, opts to see what all those years of ballet lessons can do...hence the S###-eating grin.

Bonnie, dejected; has apparently given up and reluctantly walks over to her boom box to begin the evening's entertainment. You know what they say about Karma...


I had this idea for months and finally got around to doing it as the precursors were developed(wanted to do these things in chronological order)
Originally I wanted this as a club with Bonnie bending backwards over a pole while dancing and freezing in mid stream, eye-to-eye with Ron...but I didn't want to be redundant with night clubs since I already did that with the ladies. Ron has always seemed to be cheaper anyhow and would probably resort to sitting in the apartment drinking beers and watching tv with friends...so that's what I went with. Either way I thought it would make for good humor, hopefully I'm making people get a laugh.

 

10. LOOKING BACK

New submission for the Stoppable Wedding Series.

The Big Day has finally arrived and we peer through the window and catch Kim and her mother in the early morning sitting on her bed reminiscing through the years.

I tried to put a lot of heavy symbolism and details into this piece. Notably, you have bare room with faded walls where posters used to hang, along with the stucco-filled holes and a few remaining boxes packed up and ready to move into the new Stoppable household.

Onward to the photo album, you probably noticed that the pictures inside the book are damaged...Remember at the end of Graduation, (SPOILER lol) the alien vehicles destroy the Possible's house, so I played to that notion that these were recovered from the ruins...the room they are currently in is also not her original room (the windows were different...more open and triangular), but I thought in a new room she'd want it back the way it was and went with the original hue (I tried other colors but none looked right) Even if they rebuild and gave her a small room during college, fading and whatnot still would occur.

Like most cases when a family loses their entire home...they try to salvage those most precious to them, so I figured KP's mom would try to salvage as much of her kids' youth as she could.

And then last but not least...we have the transition of the past to the future with the lone wedding dress, hanging by a temporary nail in the wall as the only remaining thing left in the room.

I would think the next step would be to get washed and dressed and head out to meet up with KP's bridesmaids and to begin to make the final preparations...

11. COMPROMISE II

Here's my latest installment of the Stoppable Wedding series. We last saw Kim sharing a tender moment with her mother, here we have Ron kind of sharing a similar one. Like with Kim, Ron's room is a shell of what it used to be...pictures and stickers ripped off, the shelves cleared off and so forth...all packed up and ready to start a new life with his best friend.

All the while, Ron's father is giving Ron a small, yet crucial piece of advise regarding what he should do with his goatee for his wedding. And although obviously not happy, Ron caves into his father's advise about how he should look for his big day. (See? I told you all who hated the goatee to hang in there, that there was a plan!)

Hopefully you all figure out this is a picture of the two of them looking into the vanity mirror in Ron's room...hence all the tape residue and glares over the image...I've been playing around with different perspectives with recent submissions.

I had this one for a while, I was torn about the background, originally I had Ron with his groomsmen changing, but the groomsmen concept wasn't working out the way I had hoped....in the end I made the right idea I believe.

12.  HERE COMES THE BRIDE & ALT.

The big day is (finally) here. It's taken me 10 months since I did the Engagement Toast picture as a lead up to finally get to this point.

The picture is typical of a wedding, a proud father walking his only daughter down the aisle to begin her life with her best friend.

I wanted to go in a different direction with the wedding than most...I wanted to do it outside (makes the Chuppa look better) and have Kim not dressed so elaborate as some do. She's never really a girly girl (probably why there are so many guy fans of the show) and I wanted to portray her in that manner. So I made her up but just a little bit. It seems more in line with her personality than to have something you'd see on TLC. (Not that I watch TLC)

Hope it was worth the hype.

 

 13. WELL, HERE I AM

Well here is the next picture in my wedding series...talk about labor intensive...

Here we catch up with Kim who has made her way down the aisle and has joined Ron under the Chuppah to begin the ceremony. I wanted to capture that moment (and anyone who has been married will know this moment) where both parties have been really nervous as things begin to go into motion. You're stuck up at the front for all to see in front of a few hundred friends, family, and those you were obligated to invite for some reason or another while your love is stowed away in the back somewhere. Then the music begins to play, everyone stands up and looks to the back to see the bride make her way in.

During this time, the groom seems left out of the picture, all eyes focused on her as she makes her way towards you...except for one pair of eyes...hers...which is focused solely on you. With all the pomp and circumstance, you exchange that glance of "It's just me, I'll be there in a 'sec" hinting at a bit of normalcy in this whirlwind of uncharted territory.

Then she makes it finally to you, she reaches out for your hand, you grab it, and you rub it profusely with your thumbs praying that the numbing sensation your hands currently feel isn't setting the stage for a Youtube sensation. But more importantly, that person that's always been there for you, the person you're madly in love with, has literally got you by the hand...and gives you that look of "It's alright, I'm here....we're in this together, everything's going to be just fine."

So, I think I hit that part right...Ron was a little difficult to draw due to the angle I drew them at, but I think it works. Hopefully I made his Tallit (with tzitzit!) correctly and made the Chuppah about right.

As for the backdrop, I like to think of the wedding being held at a farm at the foot of the Wallowa Mountains in Oregon (There's a Middleton near Portland which seems to fit the show's locale...my personal taste,)

 14. VOWS

Next up in my Stoppable Wedding Series, we have Ron and KP exchanging their wedding vows to each other. I tried making the moment appear as Ron's shining moment...the guy who is the comic relief through the entire series, who has been a plethora of bad puns, bad ideas, and just on an entirely different level than his fiance'. Opens up his heart, and promises to love her to keep her, to protect her back as she does his, to be the ying to her yang, her equal, her best friend. Kim is pleasantly surprised because in all honesty, this is probably the most intelligent Ron has ever sounded, and she is eating it up word for word...she realizes this marriage she is about to enter will work and that she will be loved unconditionally by her husband and best friend.


On the not parts, I think I'm only going to do one more of the ceremony and then a couple reception pictures and call it a wrap. Mainly because this is the third picture I've made with this type of background and well, I want to make something new and fresh.

15. MAZEL TOV!

Well here it is!

After three weeks(!) of building, I present to you the climax to the Stoppable Wedding Series where Kim and Ron have exchanged vows and Ron has been told that he may kiss his bride. Much to the enjoyment of their friends and relatives (and pets).

I'll have a few more reception/honeymoon ones to follow but this will be it for the leadup (finally)

16. WEDDING NIGHT

Now officially husband and wife, and long after the festivities of the day with friends and family are over, Kim and Ron head off on their own to spend consummate their marriage vows.  Ron leads his wife away to a local honeymoon suite while Kim goes and freshens up and returns to her husband with a brand new silk teddy...which she slowly begins to remove to start their evening together...

 17. DAY 1, ROUND 2

Hey look! Another installment to the Stoppable Wedding Series...(I was going to post this before the BSoD arrived last week)

The wedding day has come and gone and now we have Kim and Ron starting off on their first day together as husband and wife...or probably more appropriately, coming up for air...

I can't speak for Ronald, but if I was in his shoes...errr, figuratively speaking; I probably would be cooped up in that room for another 12 hours or so.

This concludes the Stoppable Wedding Series (hence Ron and KP waving goodbye before dropping the blinds)...got a couple commissions and then I'll hit some honeymoon pics...we'll see how many of you were right on where they are going.
